The Public D3 is an easy-shifting three-speed bike adequate for most cities or topographies where steep hills or strong headwinds are not a part of the daily riding. For especially fit riders it can be ridden almost anywhere, including up the steep hills of San Francisco. The three speeds add significant power and speed on flat terrains and make it much easier to haul extra weight to and from the office or store.

Swiss company Stadler Form looked towards artist/designer Carlo Borer for the creation of its latest industrial fan. The “Otto” is a luxurious take on contemporary design, produced from African sapele wood, which is similar to mahogany with its smooth fine grain and deep warm sienna, along with high-grade steel. The fan is adjustable in height and features three different speed settings.

Retailing for $200, it can be purchased through the Stadler Form website here.

Thick sheets of wool felt are precision cut and minimally stitched to give this “box” its shape. Useful for its ability to hold a wide range of notions, the Felt Basket is kind to walls and tabletops and won’t bruise or nick adjacent surfaces in the event of a bump. While utilitarian storage has its merits, this item’s soft architectural presence furthers its appeal. When not it use, it can be folded into a more compact shape for storage. The 100% wool construction is naturally dirt and flame resistant.

The Public J7 is an ultra affordable new lightweight, easy-shifting, bike designed for stop-and-go city riding. With its curved, open, step-through frame design, it is often referred to as a Dutch bike. But this classic European geometry is seen on the streets from Denmark to Italy and now more frequently in the US. It especially well suited for those who wear skirts, carry extra weight on the rear rack, or prefer not to swing a leg over a typical frame crossbar. Tastefully understated and seriously overbuilt. Reliable enough to be your everyday, rain or shine, commuter workhorse.
